NHS Improvement is responsible for overseeing foundation trusts, NHS trusts and independent providers. We offer the support these providers need to give patients consistently safe, high quality, compassionate care within local health systems that are financially sustainable. By holding providers to account and, where necessary, intervening, we help the NHS to meet its short-term challenges and secure its future.

NHS Improvement is the operational name for the organisation that brings together Monitor, NHS Trust Development Authority, Patient Safety, the National Reporting and Learning System, the Advancing Change team and the Intensive Support Teams.

Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) has a profound impact on the safety, experience and clinical outcomes for patients. In addition to the personal cost of acquiring an infection to individual patients, there is a significant financial cost to the NHS. Gram-negative bloodstream infections are believed to have contributed to approximately 5,500 NHS patient deaths in 2015.

This is an exciting time to join NHS Improvement.  We are leading an improvement programme to help support the delivery of a reduction in Gram-negative bloodstream infections. This is an important patient safety measure. This programme involves working across health and social care boundaries so is both a challenge and an opportunity to support system wide improvements.

This post will form part of a small central team that will be actively working with regional and local teams in England.

The purpose of the Team Administrator role is to provide efficient and effective administrative business support, facilitating and monitoring of progress to the GNBSI team.  This could include resolving day to day problems, organising meetings and workshops, filing and copying, managing correspondence, maintaining information or databases, taking notes and minutes of meetings, managing stationery supplies and other support activities.

This post includes responsibility for all administration for the IPC Oversight Group monthly meeting and IPC Improvement and Intervention monthly meeting. This includes: meeting co-ordination, maintaining membership distribution lists, preparing and disseminating agendas, producing minutes with excellent attention to detail and maintaining the action log.

This post is London based. It may require some national travel and occasionally an overnight stay.
