NHS Improvement is responsible for overseeing foundation trusts, NHS trusts and independent providers. We offer the support these providers need to give patients consistently safe, high quality, compassionate care within local health systems that are financially sustainable. By holding providers to account and, where necessary, intervening, we help the NHS to meet its short-term challenges and secure its future.

NHS Improvement is the operational name for the organisation that brings together Monitor, NHS Trust Development Authority, Patient Safety, the National Reporting and Learning System, the Advancing Change team and the Intensive Support Teams.

The Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch (HSIB) was established by the Government in 2016. Headed by the Chief Investigator, it is tasked with carrying out independent safety investigations across the healthcare system in England. HSIB is hosted by NHSI but will maintain its independence both in the conduct and the reporting of its investigations.

The purpose of HSIB is to improve patient safety across the healthcare sector, by carrying out expert investigations to determine the causes of accidents and serious incidents, and to make safety recommendations intended to prevent recurrence and to improve safety across the healthcare system. It is not to apportion blame or liability. It will also seek to improve investigation practice across the system.

This is a new and exciting role where you will be part of a dynamic team championing good quality investigation across the NHS.

The Head of Integrated Governance will be responsible for enhancing and embedding HSIB’s internal risk management framework across the organisation. It is the role of the Head of Integrated Governance to manage all internal risk accordingly whilst ensuring the organisation has sufficient policies and practices in place to minimise internal risk. It is expected that the post holder provides administrative and strategic support to the Associate Director of Integrated Governance and Associate Director of Data Compliance and Information Governance.

We are looking for an experienced professional with Good knowledge of the NHS Information Governance Agenda, the HSCIC IG Toolkit, the Data Protection Act, GDPR, HSCIC Code of Practice, ICO Anonymisation Code of Practice and other information law. Ideally you will hold a Professional qualification related to risk management, a data protection qualification or equivalent experience gained.

The suitable candidate will hold excellent communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels, you will have strong presentation skills and a self-starter comfortable working both independently and as part of a team/wider network.

HSIB is situated at Cody Technology Park, a unique private campus 10 minutes from Farnborough town centre and 40 minutes by train from Waterloo. It is a superb spacious working location with ample parking, a subsidised restaurant, café, nursery, gym and landscaped gardens to enjoy.

HSIB are unable reimburse travel expenses for attending interviews.
